Terms of Service

Last updated September 18, 2026

This document is a working draft and is being reviewed by counsel. It describes how OpenRoster works today.

Agreement

These terms are an agreement between you and CB5 Ventures LLC ("OpenRoster", "we", "us"). By creating an account or using OpenRoster you agree to them and to our Privacy Policy.

Who may use OpenRoster

  • You must be 18 or older.
  • You must be a parent or legal guardian of the player you add, or a coach or authorized representative of the team you add.
  • Children may not create an account, sign in, or use the messaging relay. One account per adult; keep your password to yourself.
  • Information you enter must be accurate, including a player's date of birth and a team's age group and playing class.

What OpenRoster does, and does not do

OpenRoster helps a travel team that is short a player find an eligible guest player whose guardian has said they are available. It suggests matches using published rules and explains each one. A match is confirmed only when both the guardian and the coach approve.

  • OpenRoster is an introduction and scheduling tool. We are not a league, a team, a tournament, an employer of coaches, or a party to any arrangement between a family and a team.
  • We do not supervise events, provide transportation, or take custody of any child.
  • Eligibility checks are based on what users enter and on published rule sets. The tournament or governing body makes the final decision on whether a player may take the field.
  • Trust badges summarize activity on OpenRoster. Unless a badge explicitly says a background check was completed by a named provider, OpenRoster has not run one. A badge is not an endorsement or a guarantee of anyone's conduct.

Your responsibility as a parent or guardian

You decide whether a match is right for your child. Before approving, and before any event, use your own judgment: confirm who the coach and team are, confirm the event details, and attend with your child or arrange supervision you trust. Approving a match on OpenRoster is not a substitute for that.

Your responsibility as a coach

  • Post only real roster needs for a team you are authorized to represent.
  • Follow your league's, tournament's, and governing body's rules on guest players, including roster caps and any required background screening.
  • Use player information only to evaluate and coordinate the match it was shared for. Do not copy it elsewhere or share it.
  • Communicate with the guardian, never with the player.

Coach subscription and payment

OpenRoster is free for parents. Coaches pay an annual subscription, currently $125 per year, before using the coach features. Payment is taken through our payment processor, Stripe, when you subscribe.

  • The subscription renews automatically every year until you cancel.
  • You can cancel at any time from the Billing page. You keep access through the end of the year you paid for, and you will not be charged again.
  • Promotion codes reduce the price for the first year only, where the code says so, and cannot be combined unless we say they can.
  • If a renewal payment fails, your access continues for a short grace period while we retry your card, then pauses until payment succeeds.
  • Refunds are handled as described at checkout and as required by law. Contact us if something went wrong with a charge.
  • We may change the price for future renewals with advance notice; a change never applies to a year you have already paid for.

Messaging

The relay is for adult-to-adult coordination about a specific match. Messages may be automatically scanned and flagged, and reviewed by us, to keep the service safe.

Prohibited conduct

  • Contacting, or attempting to contact, a minor through or because of OpenRoster.
  • Impersonating a parent, guardian, coach, or team, or entering false information about a player or team.
  • Harassment, threats, discrimination, or sexual content of any kind.
  • Recruiting players away from their home team in violation of league rules, or using OpenRoster to solicit for unrelated products or services.
  • Collecting other users' information, scraping, probing or bypassing security, or interfering with the service.
  • Using OpenRoster for anything unlawful.

Reporting and enforcement

Report a concern to support@cb5v.com. If a child is in immediate danger, contact local law enforcement first. We may remove content, and suspend or close any account, at our discretion where we believe these terms were broken or someone's safety is at risk, and we may report conduct to authorities.

Your content

You keep ownership of what you enter. You give us permission to store, display, and process it as needed to run OpenRoster as described in the Privacy Policy. You are responsible for having the right to enter it, including a guardian's authority to enter a player's information.

Ending your account

You can delete your account at any time in Settings. We may suspend or end access as described above. Sections that by their nature should survive, such as disclaimers and limits on liability, continue after your account ends.

Disclaimers

OpenRoster is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent the law allows. We do not warrant that matches will be found, that information entered by other users is accurate, or that any user is who they say they are or will behave appropriately.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, CB5 Ventures LLC is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for the conduct of any user, on or off the service, including at any practice, game, or event. Our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim or one hundred U.S. dollars. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limits, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of North Carolina, without regard to its conflict of laws rules. Disputes will be brought in the state or federal courts located in North Carolina.

Changes

We may update these terms. If a change is material we will notify account holders before it takes effect. Continuing to use OpenRoster after that means you accept the updated terms.
